Diving
Diving can mean lots of things: scuba diving, snorkelling, subaquatics, just jumping off something, acrobatic (olympic) diving, synchronized diving, etc. I think there should be 2 categories: jumping off something and going underwater. I personally would call them diving and subaquatics. Pauluzz 22:15, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Pelota / Poleta
There is a spelling problem somewhere deeply hidden within templates withen templates ... I was unable to find the actual origin to edit it: The second column in sport map features give "poleta" (though correctly linking to "pelota"). I wonder, shouldn't these words be spelled identically by some automaic?--hagman 09:18, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- Never mind, I ultimately found the culprit (and a similar typo in paragliding nearby). From an IT point of view, constructs like [[{{{foobar:value|Tag:sport=foobar}}} | foobar]] as in the template are of course (as could be seen) awfully error-prone if it is a human's task to make sure that all occurances of foobar are identical... --hagman 11:40, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Can't add?
Accidentally added sport=jiu-jitsu. When trying to add sport=jujutsu, the universal spelling, it doesn't appear. Can someone explain? --Floridaeditor (talk) 11:13, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- This template is a Taglist, based on data from Taginfo, which is updated once a day. The tag sport=jujutsu has only been used one time, added 4 hours ago: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/7251786340 - so it is not yet in the Taginfo database. Since this tag is very new, it should not yet be added to Map Features. There is not consensus on using jujutsu instead of jiu-jitsu. Also, I don't see a wiki page for Tag:sport=jujutsu yet. Please document this tag first. --Jeisenbe (talk) 16:00, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- Looking at wikipedia, it looks like there are 2 different sports: 1) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_jiu-jitsu and 2) [Japanese] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jujutsu ? --Jeisenbe (talk) 16:02, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, I was using Japanese spelling (that would be my tag) because I thought it was the correct one. Maybe keep sport=jiu_jitsu then. --Floridaeditor (talk) 12:31, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- Both tags are correct, depending on what sport you want to map, though in the Americas it will be more common to find Brazilian jiu jitsu. Generally I think we should wait to add sports to this page until they are used at least a couple hundred times, since there are 100's of rare sports, but that's just my opinion. --Jeisenbe (talk) 20:36, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
