Changing the last bullet point
I propose to remove paternalistic "Respect other mappers. Avoid personal attacks or harassment.". For nearly all it will be obvious and insulting, and truly nasty people will ignore it anyway Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 22:00, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- I obviously disagree that this is paternalistic, but I am open for a different new text with a similar content. --Tigerfell (Let's talk) 10:26, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- Do you think that "Avoid personal attacks or harassment" banner actually reduces harassment? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 16:48, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, I think there are certain people who need explicit rules and it is also beneficial to make a statement that such behaviour is undesirable. --Tigerfell (Let's talk) 21:26, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- And it is so good idea that adding it on top of many (all?) talk pages is worth doing? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 09:53, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Please stay on scope of this discussion. You can discuss the other issue at Talk:Wiki#Proposed solution. I already voiced my opinion there. --Tigerfell (Let's talk) 12:13, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

- Subjectively, that the last bullet does come across as a bit unwelcoming. I'm not sure if we want any "be nice" instructions on talk pages, but if so, I'm not a fan of the current wording, for two main reasons:
- It's negative ("don't do this", "don't do that"), rather than encouraging.
- The two specific behaviours seem arbitrary chosen from the much larger set of potential negative actions.
- Perhaps a more positive spin would help? Something like "Respect your fellow mappers. Be gentle, constructive, and assume good faith." --Tordanik 21:45, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Agree, this sounds good (esp. AGF). Thanks for the suggestion. --Tigerfell (Let's talk) 10:34, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- I am not happy with it, but it is much better so I changed English version. At least it is much less aggressive and it is not implying so strong that someone who reads it is someone who will attack others if not warned Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:08, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
