Using GMapTool to add OSM World to Mapsource
I have improved memory allocation in GMapTool v0.4.2 to better deal with mkgmap created maps. Now it can process latest wordfile without memory problems.
To make files for Mapsource you need GMapTool and Free cGPSmapper:

Unpack both programs to convinient directories. Start GMapTool and set its options. Check "Andvanced options" and set cGPSmapper path.
Download world.tgz from Computerteddy. Unpack all files in temporary directory. You can delete overview map 63240000.img and TDB file 63240000.tdb, they aren't needed, you will create new ones.
Add all img files to GMapTools "File" tab. You can drag-and-drop files to GMapTool window. Be patient, it take some time to load about 15,0000 files.
Prepare new empty directory for OSM World map. GMapTool will copy and reformat all img files, this can save up to 1GB of your HDD area. Go to "Split" tab and set parametres for split action.
You can choose any FID value you like, but it should not conflict with other maps. Better use 4-digit value. You should limit mapset area. For unknown reason cGPSmapper and Mapsource have problems with full map.
Optionally you can add TYP file. You can take file from Saftl or Computerteddy. Add selected TYP file to "Files" tab, highlight it and go to "Write" tab. Here you can correct FID value for TYP file. Set the same value as in "Split" tab and press "Write slelected" button.
Now you can return to "Split" tab and press "Split all" button. GMapTool will copy img files, prepare TDB file, overview map and run cGPSmapper to compile overview map. It will create two batch files: Install.bat and Unistall.bat. You can run Install.bat from mapset directory to install map to Mapsource.
