The smoothness of road surfaces, including and especially cycleway surfaces, generally is more or less degraded by lack of maintainance.
For the description of some new tags can be useful:
- Overall tag
- damages=*
- *=no (this value if the surface is like recently built in a good quality)
- *=little or *=few
- *=significant
- *=heavy
- *=desolate
- Specifications
- pot-holes=*
- transversal_ridges=* (rather caused by underground waterflows)
- transversal_waves=* (rather caused by the roots of trees)
- longitudial_ridges=* (rather on dams and contour terraces)
- edges=* (especially with paving stones and concrete layers)
- displaced_stones=* (with paving stones and pavement of natural stones)
- patches=* (especially with asphalt; "patchwork" would afford different terms of quantification)
each with the values:
- *=no (only in contrast to neighbouring ways)
- *=few (rather in contrast to to neighbouring ways)
- *=significant
- *=many
- *=deep (for ridges & pot-holes only)
- *=many&deep (for ridges and pot-holes only)
- *=most (for displaced_stones only)
