Optimalsystem Ublox F9P
Hello!
I found this on your user page: Ajf3934221-wiki-tue uses a Optimalsystem dual-frequency RTK-rover with a Ublox F9P Chipset and a 3G+C antenna and is willing to answer questions on it from OSM users.
I'm planing to buy some dual-frequency GNSS receiver, to use on my bicycle, to create high quality GPX tracks. Probably based on u-blox ZED-F9P module. Can you recommend me this chipset? How good is it without correction data?

- I am extremely happy with the F9P. Most of the time i am using correction data from a VRS-network which are free in my region (south germany). With correction data the precision is under open sky usually about +-2cm. Before i had a NVS nv08-rtk-m. But the f9p is ages better. It gives a very fast and stable fix. Even with entry level antennas it gives very nice results. The F9P uses lots of satellites (gps,glo,gal,bei). Really great device with correction data.
- I suppose there are some other free and open correction services that you can possibly access using rtklib. There are posts that suggest that the device is capable of correction with very long baselines from free casters (euref stations): http://www.gpsforum.geospector.de/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3727&start=30 see also the Station in Wroclaw but i don't have experience with rtklib corrections. But there seem to be people using it.
- Rarely i use Sbas, so i can't tell you much about it. But surely it works and i guess it gives about +-1m reliable results. I can do some sbas tests next time when i am out.

- I'm thinking about one of these boards:
- u-blox C099-F9P application board — it probably has maximum amount of features
- SparkFun GPS-RTK-SMA Breakout - ZED-F9P — I like it is opensource and they have great documentation
- Ardusimple ZED-F9P — I like it is from Europe company and there is some guide how to configure it
- + standard minimal U-blox ANN-MB multi-band antenna, which is IP67.
- Unfortunately, none of these boards have IP67 case for bicycle. But now I have this bag, which is rain-resistant.
- Currently I'm not planing to use RTK. Maybe I will use correction data, but in post-processing after the trip. I didn't have such experience yet, so I don't know.
- I'm not sure how will I power that board and how to write NMEA tracks.
- I don't like the idea of cheap SD-card loggers, probably some single board computer with GPSD will be better.
- Or just use Android smartphone and UsbGps4Droid + some NMEA recorder.
- Could you please take a look at these boards, maybe you find something bad/good? And how do you write tracks? Maybe you can suggest me another device which I missed.

- Dear Alexey, unfortunately I can not tell you much about the technical differences of the listed boards because I am just a 'user'. The build of my device has been conducted by an expert engineer as a custom made device. I ordered it here: https://www.optimalsystem.de/ It is made of very high quality in a rugged design. It communicates over two separate bluetooth ports with an android smartphone. On the phone there ist an App that communicates with the rover and the vrs-network to shake the correction data around. The other port is reading the output locations from the rover. I am displaying and recording the tracks with an very nice app: "mapit spatial" This results in very nice high resolution tracks.--Ajf3934221-wiki-tue (talk) 20:28, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
