Hi Farzaneh
Last week I came to Tehran from Hamburg, and I had borrowed a Garmin Nuvi 650 from a friend. I thought that I could find it in Iran or at least find some iran or middleEast maps for it.
I used a couple of days looking for it mainly in jomhoory street and Bazare reza in Valiasr street and pasaje Payetakht arround Vanak square. I only found one shop with one device that only had a map of Tehran and Karaj (ground floor in passage paytakht I think the shop had no. 90) .
I was wondering if you have seen this link: [1] and this [2]
The CD costs 350 $ and I was hoping to find a copy of it in Iran. But without luck.
Where did you buy your device in iran? Do you have Tehran map on your device?

تازه به اپن استریت مپ آمده‌ام و چند سوال داشتم که نتوانستم در قسمت هلپ (کمک) پیدا کنم.
سوال اول: چگونه یک جاده را روی جادهٔ دیگر می‌اندازند؟ (منظورم این است که اگر بخواهیم جاده با رنگ زرد را روی جاده با رنگ سفید بیندازیم باید چه‌کار کنیم؟)
سوال دوم: چرا تغییرات در اسمارندر دیده نمی‌شوند ولی در مپ‌نیک دیده می‌شوند؟
فعلا همین دو تا بودو باز اگر سوالی داشتم مزاحمتان خواهم شد.
لینکش را نیز می‌گذارم تا راحت‌تر علم و صنعت ایران را پیدا کنید.

- سلام. منظورتان از جاده‌ای را روی جادهٔ دیگر انداختن چیست؟ هر جاده فقط یک نوع دارد و تقاطع‌ها هم یا همسطح هستند یا غیر همسطح. نقطهٔ تقاطع می‌تواند عضو هر دو مسیر تعریف شود. اگر یک جاده را از دو نوع تعریف کرده‌اید احتمالاً اشتباه کرده‌اید.
- نقشه‌ها هر چند وقت یک بار رندر می‌شوند. اسمارندر معمولاً زودتر از مپ‌نیک رندر می‌کند. چند روزی صبر کنید تا نقشه در مپ‌نیک هم دیده شود. ضمناً می‌توانید برای مپ‌نیک درخواست رندر منطقهٔ مشخص را هم بفرستید. --Farzaneh 09:05, 10 May 2011 (BST)

- پاسخ سوال اولم را خود یافتم (منظورم این بود که مثلا در نقشهٔ دانشگاه علم و صنعت که لینکش را در بالا گذاشته‌ام، اگر به محل تقاطع خیابان زردرنگ (tertiary road) با خیابانی که دور ورزشگاه کشیده شده (service road) دقت کنید، متوجه خواهید شد که خیابان زردرنگ روی خیابان سفیدرنگ است حال آن‌که قبلا نبود و ظاهر نقشه را خراب کرده بود.)

- سوال سوم: آیا می‌شود رنگ ساختمان‌ها (در اینجا دانشکده‌ها) را به طور دلخواه عوض کرد مثلا آبی رنگشان کرد یا نه؟ (توضیح: من با پات‌لچ ویرایش می‌کنم. ظاهر جی‌اواس‌ام به نظرم اندکی سخت آمد)
- سوال چهارم: هدف نهایی من درست کردن تصویری مشابه تصویری است که روزبه برای دانشگاه صنعتی شریف در ویکی‌فا قرار داده است می‌باشد. در آن تصویر نوشته‌های فارسی به خوبی دیده می‌شوند در حالی که در تصاویر دانشگاه فروسی مشهد حرف ی به هم ریخته (مثلا شهی‌د نمایش داده می‌شود) چگونه باید این مشکل را رفع کرد.
- سوال پنجم: اگر به نقشهٔ دانشگاه فردوسی نگاه کنید می‌بینید که اسم محله‌ها نوشته شده (مثلا کوی کوکاکولا). من هم می‌خواهم در اطراف نقشه مثلا بنویسم نارمک. چگونه این کار را باید کرد?

- رنگ‌ها برای کدگذاری استفاده می‌شوند و در سراسر رندرر ثابت هستند. نباید ساختمان‌ها را به دلخواه رنگ کنید.
- صفحه‌کلید فارسی حداقل یکی از کسانی که نقشهٔ علم و صنعت را ویرایش کرده غیراستاندارد است. علاوه بر آن احتمالاً فونت‌های فارسی استاندارد ندارید و همین باعث می‌شود تصویر رندرشده را به هم ریخته ببینید. حرف ی در مطالبی که اینجا نوشته‌اید فارسی است اما در نقشهٔ دانشگاه علم و صنعت جاهای زیادی حرف ي عربی دیده می‌شود. به هر حال نقشه برای من درست رندر شده و مشکلی به جز نویسه‌های ي عربی نمی‌بینم. می‌توانید لینک بدهید از کلمه‌ای که می‌گویید به هم ریخته است؟
- همهٔ حروف و علائم باید با استفاده از نویسهٔ صحیح‌شان در برچسب‌ها بیایند. کد نویسه‌های صحیح فارسی در استاندارد ملی ۶۲۱۹ ایران آمده است. برای اطلاع بیشتر از نویسه‌های صحیح شیوه‌نامهٔ ویکی‌پدیای فارسی را ببینید. --Farzaneh 17:25, 10 May 2011 (BST)
Missing file information
Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.
Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.
Are you the author of image File:Sign.jpg ?
Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?
Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ" or "this is map generated from OpenStreetMap data and SRTM data" or "map generated from OSM data and only OSM data".
Doing this would be already very useful.
Licensing - photos
In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?
In case where it is a photo you (except relatively rare cases) author can make it available under a specific free license.
Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?
Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?
If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.
You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.
Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified March 2022}} from the file page.
Licensing - other images
If it is not a photo situation gets a bit more complicated.

note: if you took screenshot of program made by someone else, screenshot of OSM editor with aerial imagery: then licensing of that elements also matter and you are not a sole author.
note: If you downloaded image made by someone else then you are NOT the author.
Note that in cases where photo is a screenshot of some software interface: usually it is needed to handle also copyright of software itself.
Note that in cases where aerial imagery is present: also licensing of an aerial imagery matter.

Feel free to ask for help if you need it - you can do it for example by asking on Talk:Wiki: new topic.
Please ask there if you are not sure what is the proper next step. Especially when you are uploading files that are not your own work or are derivative work (screenshots, composition of images, using aerial imagery etc).

(sorry if I missed something that already states license and source: I am looking through over 20 000 files and fixing obvious cases on my own, in other I ask people who upladed files, but it is possible that I missed something - in such case also please answer)
