User talk:GhostEye
Welcome to oneways
Hi and welcome here. I have noticed that as a pretty new user you have picked one of the more difficult problems of routing - oneway=reversible . Beware that it is very easy to get things wrong because there is all sorts of legacy definitions, workarounds and routers understanding only select tags/condition/combinations. For example up until very recently OsmAnd had not the slightest idea of neither oneway=reversible nor time conditional tags.
So any improvement has to come with great care to prevent breaking backward compatibility. For example, oneway=yes must be guaranteed to be just that because we can't change existing definitions. Routers are fully entitled to evaluate oneway=yes without considering any conditional expressions - this is the reason why oneway=reversible exists. Also it is perfectly fine to use oneway=reversible without any further details as those may not be known to the mapper or irregular and it has been defined this way long before the conditional syntax was fully implemented. If the router encounters oneway=reversible without any further specifications there is not much it can do but it is still better than a plain wrong oneway=yes.
Also notice that the examples you gave in Tag:oneway=reversible are very similar to the example I gave a few lines above that on the same pages with a slightly different syntax. It would be important to actually test the various examples with existing routers, have you tried this? RicoZ (talk) 20:46, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback
Hello RicoZ. I appreciate the feedback on the oneway tagging. The updates I made to the reversible tagging with directional conditions doesn't create any errors in the JOSM validator. The updates were based on regional specific preferences for Santiago, Chile and pulled from ground imagery on Mapillary. This tagging scheme was built to best reflect the restrictions for the regions and not for a specific routing software; with the expectation that moving forward routers will be updated to include directionality for forward and backward tags. 10:38, 11 October 2019 (MST)
- Routers will learn to interpret oneway:forward/backward and conditions but in my opinion oneway=yes + oneway:backward:conditional=* is a mapping error (contradicting tags) and routers can not and must not do anything useful with such combinations. Before using such methods please ask in the tagging mailing list for more opinions, especially as the alternative as oneway=reversible + oneway:backward:conditional=* exists which is already evaluated correctly by some routers today. - Beware that the JOSM validator will not catch all thinkable problems, especially not such related to conditional expressions. It would be possible to submit a ticket to catch a few combinations which are very likely to be errors or cause errors in routers but I am not sure it is worth the effort as there are very many combinations that exist. Missing file information
Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.
Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.
Are you the author of image File:Aguascalientes Tracks.png ?
Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?
Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ".
In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?
Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?
Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?
If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.
You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.
Feel free to ask for help if you need it - you can do it for example by asking on Talk:Wiki: new topic.
Please ask there if you are not sure what is the proper next step. Especially when you are uploading files that are not your own work or are derivative work (screenshots, composition of images, using aerial imagery etc).
Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified January 2022}} from the file page.

Missing file information
Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.
Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.
Are you the creator of image File:Mexicali Tracks.png ?
Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?
Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ" or "this is map generated from OpenStreetMap data and SRTM data" or "map generated from OSM data and only OSM data" or "This is my work based on file -link-to-page-with-that-file-and-its-licensing-info-" or "used file downloaded from internet to create it, no idea which one".
Doing this would be already very useful.
Licensing - photos
In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?
In case where it is a photo you have taken then you can make it available under a specific free license (except some cases, like photos of modern sculptures in coutries without freedom of panorama or taking photo of copyrighted artwork).
Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?
Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?
If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.
You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self|GhostEye}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.
Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified 2022, June}} from the file page.
Licensing - other images
If it is not a photo situation gets a bit more complicated.
See Drafts/Media file license chart that may help.
note: if you took screenshot of program made by someone else, screenshot of OSM editor with aerial imagery: then licensing of that elements also matter and you are not a sole author.
note: If you downloaded image made by someone else then you are NOT the author.
Note that in cases where photo is a screenshot of some software interface: usually it is needed to handle also copyright of software itself.
Note that in cases where aerial imagery is present: also licensing of an aerial imagery matter.

If you are interested in wider discussion about handling licencing at OSM Wiki, see this thread.
(sorry if I missed something that already states license and source: I am looking through over 20 000 files and fixing obvious cases on my own, in other I ask people who upladed files, but it is possible that I missed something - in such case also please answer)

What is the source and license of this aerial imagery? Do you remember it?
