Data item property P17 replaced by

Hi! I saw your additions from replaced by (P17), e.g. Special:Diff/2648312. I have always added this property as a standalone entry (e.g. Item:Q225), not as a qualifier of status. --Chris2map (talk) 17:52, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for notifying me. I thought that it might make sense because replaced by (P17) is only used on certain values of status and because the reference refers to both. I must admit that I have already encountered some problems, e.g. with lines (Q384) where a qualifier can't hold two values. Also, you seem to have much more experience with data items and if this is current practice, I will follow it and correct my edits accordingly. I hadn't yet thought about the possibility of attaching P17 as a qualifier to the status. The few uses of P17 that I know of have been as a separate entry. I can't say how it was originally intended, but I find direct, separate use easier and I suspect easier to evaluate (for software). Comparable to required key or tag (P22) or different from (P18). P17 is not mentioned at all on the Data items page. This should be improved. We could move the discussion to Talk:Data items. --Chris2map (talk) 19:21, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
