when refering to operator, does this mean propriator of the tracks, or operator of trains running there? In Germany most tracks belong to Deutsche Bahn, but there are private companies operating trains on these tracks. dieterdreist, 15:47 12.04.2008 (UTC)
- You could use operator:infrastructure= DB operator:passanger respectivly, in general the operator
is the primary operator that people will recognise, in this case DB... ShakespeareFan00 17:25, 13 April 2008 (BST)
Very nice initiative. But probably missing some electrification tags: voltage, current (AC or DC) and contact system (conductor rail or overhead line) --Gummibaerli 06:29, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
What a great idea!
Hi there! I have just come across your OpenRailMap project. I do believe it is about time for such a sub project. Actually, I have been looking for something like this for quite a while.
As a frequent railway traveller and eager OSM contributor, I'll most happily support your efforts. So far, I have mapped quite some main lines in Germany, including some minor railways. The ICE core network should be complete by now, while several secondary railways (as well as some minor main lines) are still missing. I'll keep working on it.
I am wondering if it would be possible to create a railway map similar the OSM or Informationfreeway map. This would be such a great help to plan trips, in particular to see what tracks are still missing.
Also, I am not quite sure what User:ShakespeareFan00/OpenRailMap/DE is for. Should that one day become a list of all the tracks? By the way: There are much more U-Bahn and (in particular) S-Bahn systems than those listed on that page.
Let me know what I could do. I'll happily help whereever and whenever possible.
All the best from Dresden Peter --Bigbug21 11:28, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- It supposed to be an area for tracking the mapping status of various lines, so yes it's eventually intended to be a list of routes.. (and not just passanger ones..)

Signalling systems
I just went through the list. One thing I was missing are signalling systems. Wouldn't it make sense to include an information what kind of signalling (train safety) systems are installed on a line? --Bigbug21 15:07, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Merging with Railway-Features
I allready put an Proposed features/Railway - Site on the wiki to focus a discussion about the tags to one point. IMHO it would be good to merge both schemes to one and finaly come to a point where we can start to vote for one style. PieSchie 07:34, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea! --Bigbug21 14:22, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
