The key building:walls=* has been used in two ways, often overlapping: 1) to describe the material used to construct the load-bearing structure a building's walls 2) for the outer surface material of building walls, also know as the facade or cladding. Often this key is used when the structural material is exposed or the same as the cladding.
Most uses are in Indonesia, where this key was suggested on the Mapping Guidelines page for a number of years. Simple buildings in this country may use the same material for the bearing structure and facade of the wall, eg brick, concrete, "wood" (frame and boards) or bamboo, so in this case the two meaning may be the same: the facade is the structure.
Consider using the more common key building:material=* to specify the cladding or facade material.
Consider using the similar key building:structure=* to describe the structural method and material of the walls, if this can be verified.
