The key contact:twitter=* is used to define an 𝕏 (former Twitter) page of an object.

It must be an official way of contacting the item.

How to use?

Assign this tag to any object (nodes, ways, or relations):

In the past, the full URL included a '@' and it can be deleted from URL or from the username.

Both versions are valid. If you prefer to add the full URL, please make sure you link to the generic x.com page, use https, don't use any language-subdomains, and remove all possible tracking tokens that might be shown in the address bar of your browser. Twitter.com itself is able to forward every user to their preferred version of the website (mobile, language), so there is no need to add a specific selection to OSM.

Name of the key

There is an alternative and more simple key without a namespace, which is twitter=*, but contact:twitter=* is used roughly 30 times more often (As of December 2021 according to Taginfo).

As of Friday, 18th May 2024 the twitter.com domain began to redirect to x.com. So this tag might be changed to contact:x=* in the future.
