The outdoor=*
key is used to indicate that the feature it is attached to is - fully or partially - outdoors.
It is typically used for features that exist both indoors and outdoors.
Most frequently it is used with the value outdoor=yes

The complementary tag is indoor=yes
; however, indoor=*

are defined and heavily used in the Simple Indoor Tagging. Please be careful for using outdoor=*

If the feature itself is located outdoor, you may use more common tag location=outdoor
instead.
