information sign

This page describes a key prefix rather than a simple key.

Description

The value of this tag is a key prefix (or namespace) for country-specific values of all the railway:signal:* tags that describe the signal.

With this tagging scheme, the prefix is specified only once using this tag and implicitly prepended to any country-specific values, making the describing tags easier to read.

A namespace, like a prefix, is composed of a two-letter country code (ISO_3166-1) optionally followed by some country-specific values (e.g. DE-ESO, AT-V2, FR).

This tagging scheme is optional and does not replace the existing tagging scheme with prefixed values.

It is primarily used by OpenRailwayMap.
