Key:ref:MA:HCP

The key ref:MA:HCP is used to represent the reference code assigned to administrative divisions within Morocco by the Haut-Commissariat au Plan (HCP). The HCP is Morocco's national planning agency responsible for collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the country's administrative structure, demographics, and socio-economic factors.

When to use

The key ref:MA:HCP can be used to tag all administrative divisions that have been given a reference by the HCP: regions, prefectures, provinces, cercles, communes, préfectures d'arrondissements, centres urbains, and arrondissements (note that caïdats do not have references).

Where to find references

These references can be found on the results of population censuses published by the HCP every 10 years, under the "Code géographique الرمز اجلغراي" column. The most recent one has been conducted in 2024. Click on this link to consult its results.

The reference codes are formatted using points "." as separations between the different divisions.
