This key contains the reference number (ID) from the BAG (Basisregistratie Adressen en Gebouwen) database containing addresses and buildings in the Netherlands. One can look up the record in the database using bagviewer.kadaster.nl (Dutch).
Number of digits
The BAG website requires 16 digit ID's for buildings, append a zero (or two or three) in front of the ID if necessary. The first 4 digits, including leading zeroes, of the 16-digit (BAG) ID denotes a Dutch municipality code, Dutch: Gemeentecode. When using the tag2link plugin in JOSM you can open the bag viewer by right clicking on the tag and choosing "Open in BAG Viewer". This automatically adds leading zeros if necessary.
