This tag describes what supports a certain feature.

For example, an advertising board, a clock, an artwork, a memorial, ...

Values

• support=pole The feature is supported by one or more poles (some use support=poles).
• support=power_pole The feature is supported by a power pole.
• support=post The feature is supported by a post. Something lighter than a pole, generally refers to a timber but may be metal or stone. See  Post_(structural)
• support=column The feature is supported by a column. A column is a large round support, made of stone, with a capital and a base. See  Column
• support=wall The feature is directly supported by a wall.
• support=wall_mounted The feature is mounted on a wall with a support. The direction of the support is generally perpendicular (90 °) to the wall. For example a shop sign or a clock.
• support=roof The feature is supported by the roof of a building.
• support=ceiling The feature is supported by a ceiling.
• support=scaffold The feature is supported by a scaffold.
• support=billboard The feature is part of a billboard.
• support=fence The feature is supported by a fence.
• support=street_lamp The feature is supported by a street_lamp.
• support=wire The feature is supported by a cable/wire stretched between two attachment points.
• support=suspended The feature is suspended vertically.
• support=pedestal The feature is supported by a pedestal.
• support=ground The feature is directly put on the ground.
• support=tree The feature is supported by some part of a tree, usually the trunk, but please be more specific.
  • support=tree_trunk The feature is supported by the trunk of a tree (a higher usage has support=trunk, see taginfo comparison).
  • support=tree_branch The feature is supported by the branch of a tree (as seen with many bird feeders and nests).
• support=rock The feature is supported by a rock.
• support=mast The feature is supported by a mast. See also man_made=mast.

The following new values have been suggested by User:Barnes38:

• support=street_furniture The feature is part of a street furniture.
• support=street_furniture:transit_shelter The feature is part of a transit shelter.
• support=street_furniture:newspaper_kiosk The feature is part of a newspaper kiosk.
• support=street_furniture:flower_kiosk The feature is part of a flower kiosk.
• support=street_furniture:information The feature is part of an information street furniture, billboard, or poster box for example.
• support=street_furniture:map The feature is part of a map board.
• support=street_furniture:bench The feature is part of a bench.
• support=street_furniture:trash The feature is part of a feature is part of a trash bin.
• support=street_furniture:recycling The feature is part of a recycling container or disposal.
• support=street_furniture:clock The feature is part of a clock.
• support=street_furniture:toilets The feature is part of a toilets.
• support=street_furniture:street_lamp The feature is part of a street lamp. Note that it's common to just using support=street_lamp in this case.

The following new values have been suggested by User:Patcon (advice of User:Marc marc in IRC):

• support=street_cabinet The feature is supported or on the surface of a street cabinet. (For when these objects are painted with artwork. See the example below.)
