information sign

This page describes a key prefix rather than a simple key.

The prefix takeaway:*=* is used to specify contact information so customers can make a purchase that is to be picked-up at a later time (for instance, to purchase a meal to be consumed elsewhere).

Tagging

Use the same sub-keys as for contact:*=*, only if it is different from the same sub-key contact:*=* value, and only if it is unique to the provider.

Examples

Scenario Tagging Rationale
A restaurant has different phone number for ordering to pick-up later, than for general contact. contact:phone=contact phone number

takeaway:phone=takeaway phone number

Since there are two different numbers, specify them separately.
A restaurant only offers takeaway service, and has only one phone number. contact:phone=contact phone number

takeaway=only

Since there is only one contact number, use contact:phone=*, then mark the location as having no dine-in options (e.g. takeaway only).
A restaurant has a special website to order for later pick-up. takeaway:website=https://website ordering URL Since the restaurant has its own website, specify it with takeaway:website=*.
A restaurant offers takeaway, but it is only through commercial services (i.e. Grubhub, UberEats). no tagging needed Do not specify takeaway:website=* in this case.
A restaurant has a SMS number exclusively used for ordering for later pick-up. takeaway:sms=website SMS ordering number Since the number is only for ordering, do not use contact:sms=*.
