Linux Mint

Linux Mint (often just called Mint) is a Linux distribution for desktop computers.

Linux Mint is based on Debian and Ubuntu and uses the same package system. Installing additional software (like JOSM or Maperitive) on a machine running Mint works almost like on Ubuntu. Therefore, if you use Mint, you can follow the instructions provided for Ubuntu.

Installing JOSM

One of the first things most friends of OSM need is JOSM, so let us take installing JOSM on Mint as example. Because JOSM updates quite often, you should install it manually (the versions in the repositories are outdated).
