Microsoft is an American multinational company and a platinum corporate member[1] of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
In a diary post[2], Branko Kokanovic, an employee at Microsoft, summed up some of Microsoft's contributions to OpenStreetMap:
- Providing Bing imagery since 2010 for free use in OSM for whole world
- Creating Map builder – intuitive editor for Bing users that want to edit OSM map
- Maintaining iD in the interim period before Martin took over
- Released world coverage of AI-mined building footprints and road data as open data
