Adding and updating objects of the Digital Landmark Canon of Poland

Rationale

OpenStreetMap Poland Association, within the framework of the public task entitled “Digitalization of the Landmark Canon of Poland” subsidized from the funds of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism in accordance with contract No. 2024/0054/2778/UDOT/DT/BP/DSJ dated 10.06.2024. prepared a database of objects belonging to the Landmark Canon of Poland, the next stage of the task will be verification and updating of these objects in OSM. All objects will be verified with the actual state, and the reference number of the Digital Landscape Canon of Poland (CKKP) will be added to each of them.

We contacted the community using the following communication channels:

Hashtag

We've asked our contributors to use the hashtag #CKKP with their edits.

Timeframe

The activities began at the beginning of November 2024 and were completed by the end of November 2024.

Tools and Data Sources

We'll be using standard OSM editors (JOSM and iD) and QGIS The data including the entire database is available in the Github repository at: CKKP

Tagging

Participant will use ref:ckkp tag to mark objects that belong to the Digital Landmark Canon of Poland.

There will be more volunteers participating and we'll ask them to link to this page in their user profile.

Training/Instructions

We've introduced volunteers to JOSM in our workshops and we're using the "LearnOSM" pages that target humanitarian mapping, but we found them useful enough for our purpose!

Post-Event Clean Up

Our core team will frequently look at new changesets being uploaded with our hashtag, and apply corrections where necessary. Our mappers have also been asked to have their contribution validated when taking their first steps.
