StreetLight Data, Inc. (“StreetLight”)

StreetLight leverages location data to measure vehicle, transit, bike and foot traffic across the United States and Canada. We provide summary transportation analytics (“Metrics”) at the population level for roads, areas, and a variety of time periods. Our Metrics are leveraged by departments of transportations, MPOs, and private companies to inform decisions ranging from designing transportation infrastructure to measuring greenhouse emissions.

Our use of OpenStreetMap (“OSM”)

StreetLight uses OSM to map likely routes of travel for populations, which allows for inferences of travel patterns of populations along roadways, railways, and recreational trails.

About our team

We are a team of trained OSM editors based out of San Francisco CA and India. Our current team members include:

Editing Geographies

StreetLight is currently contributing to edits in the United States and Canada.

Editing Process

For updates to Bus and Rail lines and metadata, StreetLight sources publicly published data directly from agencies to confirm routes and station details. StreetLight responds to suggestions and feedback from editors with proposed resolution steps before resuming edits.

Projects/Edits

The team at StreetLight aims to follow all rules and guidelines for the OSM community. When in doubt, StreetLight makes a note instead of editing directly.

Hashtag

Our hashtag for edits is #streetlight
