Proposal talk:First Aid
I'd like to see some clarification on this. Is this tag intended to be for any place that has a first aid kit available, or are we looking more at base stations for stuff like ski patrol, mountain rescue, and lifeguards? If the latter, this feature should definitely include a way to indicate which organization operates it. --Hawke 23:19, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- As any car in Europe should have a first aid kit onboard, and we don't want to tag all the cars, not it is not a place where you can find a kit, but a place where you can get some help without being an hospital ou a doctor office, so this is well a mountain, beach, park help post. If you want to know who operates it, then you can always had a 'network' tag but I don't think it's really important. --PhilippeP 07:16, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
That tag need some additional informations. Most public first aid stations are only open at certain times (only in summer at daylight for beaches, only in winter for ski areas), others only for certain events (sport events, open air concerts etc.). -- Frank 23:46, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
I've started using it in Belgium for a "Redcross" post on a beach (where people can get firstaid and make announcement for lost children) Bigon 09:09, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Amenity? Emergency!
Because these types of places offer emergency aid with some level of professionalism, the emergency=* key seems more suitable for this feature. Because the amenity=first_aid seems to have been abandoned since 2009 and there is an established wiki page for emergency=first_aid, I would say it makes more sense to use that instead.
If nobody objects, it might make sense to make amenity=first_aid redirect to emergency=first_aid rather than redirecting it to this abandoned proposal page.
