RailwayHistoryMap is an experimental, open-source map renderer that aims to show all railway lines from the past and present. The renderer sources data about extant railways from OpenStreetMap, combining it with a series of hand-maintained patches in OSM XML format that represent demolished railways. Unlike OpenRailwayMap, RailwayHistoryMap does not require mappers to place purely historical information in OpenStreetMap, where it is often at risk of deletion. The rendered tiles are available under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike license, while the underlying data including the patches are available under the Open Database License.
