This is a tag to add to highways to denote the presence of flat steps. Flat steps, unlike "true" steps, can be driven on (very slowly, in exceptional situations) with ordinary vehicles and are more suitable for other kinds of vehicles (like bikes or baby strollers), but are still an impediment for others (e.g. wheelchairs, especially in the "up" direction). Typical distance for "flat steps" is 1 step every metre.

If possible, please consider adding also tags such as step_count=* and step:height=*

How to map

Add flat_steps=yes to a way with highway=steps.
