A dip hazard is a dip in the road which may be hazardous to motorists. This tag covers both artificial dips and natural dips in the road that form over time as the roadway deteriorates.
- For speed dips or rumble strips, see traffic_calming=* instead. Traffic calming devices themselves should not normally be tagged with hazard=dip.
How to map
Dip hazards may be mapped in the following ways:
- Place a node
at the location of the dip hazard traffic sign, tagged traffic_sign=hazard (or code) + hazard=dip.
- Tag a node
along a highway=* way
at the location of the sign
- Tag the section
of highway=* where the dip hazard is present.
