Man made mount formed from the accumulated remains of mudbricks and other refuse of generations of people living on the same site for hundreds or thousands of years. A common archaeological feature of the Near & Middle East.

man_made=mound - A tag in common use in Turkey and elsewhere, used to describe the same feature. We should possibly scrap man_made=tell and concentrate on the mound tag, but it will require extra tagging to differentiate between tells and other man made mounds (such as landscaped landfill sites). Maybe mound=tell?
