The network=US:NY:Parkway tag should be used for routes that are part of the New York State Parkway System and use the green shield design. Historically, this signage was used for parkways in both New York City and points north. However, since 2016, New York City has shifted towards a square white shield design, similar to what is used on Long Island; for these two types of New York parkways, the network=US:NY:Parkway:NYC and network=US:NY:Parkway:LI tags should be used instead. Consequently, network=US:NY:Parkway is primarily used in Westchester County, where most of the remaining green shield parkways are. Nonetheless, the green shield sees occasional use elsewhere in New York state, primarily with the Taconic State Parkway.
