network=icn specify the bike route as an international cycle network.

How to map?

Bicycle routes are mapped in a relation of type type=route.
In relation to the following characteristics should be included:

• type=route mandatory
• route=bicycle mandatory
• network=icn mandatory
• ref=* - Short Description of the route (3 to 5 characters)
• name=* - Description of the route
• operator=* - operator
• distance=* - distance
• colour=* - colour of the signposting

You can optionally add state=proposed for a route that has been proposed but not yet signposted.

Divide routes into sections

Common practice is to create routes with no more than about 300 elements. But this is often the case with long routes. The routes are divided, e.g. at political borders, and summarizes the individual sections in a superroute.

The superroute has the same characteristics as the routes regarding route=*, ref=*, network=*, name=*
