The tag power=inverter is used to map an inverter: a device to convert electric power from direct current to alternating current. Inverters are required for photovoltaic generators for instance if the electricity generated is to be fed into the AC grid. See also power inverter in in Wikipedia.

How to map

Add a node node or area area at the location of the inverter and tag it with power=inverter and, if known, with the additional keys detailed below. Typically, an inverter is placed indoors. Inverters for photovoltaic power plants are often located in a separate building or container. In this case add all tags to the building.

Tagging

Key Value Comment Recommendation
power inverter Defines this node node or area area as an inverter. Typically the inverter building should get this tag. Mandatory
voltage:input <input voltage> DC input voltage. Recommended
voltage:output <output voltage> AC output voltage. Recommended
operator <plant operator> Name of the company which operates this power inverter. Optional
frequency <output frequency> Output frequency in hertz. Optional
rating <rating> Output rating in kilowatts. Optional
ref <reference> Reference of this power converter. Optional
