 | This tag is used for bad reasons (issues with a routing engine). Accessibility for buses should be tagged with access tags - for example bus=yes and access=no. Dedicated roadways for buses should additionally be tagged with highway=busway. |
Original invalid rationale
Some bus companies using OSM for routing exclude all highway=service from their routers unless they are also tagged service=bus. Note that broken routers are not a valid reason to introduce a new tagging.
Usage
- Use with highway=service.
- Add motor_vehicle=no (to prevent other types of motor vehicles from being routed this way) and oneway=yes as appropriate.
- Add psv=yes or bus=yes if the road is more widely disallowed by access tag (e.g. access=no)
