Tag:shop=discount

This feature has been labeled as deprecated. The recommended replacement is: one of the more specific values, see documented at shop=*.
The reason is documented in Deprecated features. You are still free to continue to use or interpret this tag as you see fit since OpenStreetMap does not have “banned features”.
Under no circumstances should you (semi-)automatically change “deprecated” tags to something else in the database on a large scale without conforming to the automated edits code of conduct. Any such change will be reverted.

It sounds like duplicate of shop=variety_store (used for retail store that sells variety of inexpensive items), but it was also used for other shops selling or claiming to sell less items cheaper than elsewhere. This shop value is not clear at all - see for example huge discussion on tagging mailing list where different people had completely conflicting expectations what "discount shop" means.

Please use more specific values, many are documented at shop=*.
