Indicates the starting point of route=via_ferrata.
This seems to have never formally been a part of the relevant proposal, but emerged on its discussion page and seems to be in use.
As of mid 2024, it is used solely by XCTrails. It is useful especially for purpose-build via ferratas that are used for recreational sport (you usually do not need to hike for longer distances to reach them). It seems not to be widely used for assisted trails or via ferratas in the mountains that are meant to facilitate access to the mountains.
How to map
Add a node (one per relation) where the starting point for the different ferratas is. Put the name of the via ferrata relation to description. The tag is usually combined with natural=cliff and sport=via_ferrata.
