zone:traffic=DE:rural is used to indicate roads in Germany which are not motorways and are outside the built-up area (außerhalb geschlossener Ortschaften).

Default speed limit

In most cases, roads with zone:traffic=DE:rural have the following default speed limits:

• maxspeed=100
• maxspeed:goods=80
• maxspeed:hgv=60
• maxspeed:bicycle=none
• maxspeed:foot=none

However, there are some exceptions for dual-carriageway roads and roads with multiple lanes per direction.
