highway types

right now, it has both rd_5 and rd_7 mapping to highway=blah. this is going to present a problem if they disagree, which they likely will, otherwise there'd be no point having them separate. suggest rd_7 be mapped to some new tag instead? Morwen 09:02, 11 July 2007 (BST)

i agree with the suggestion to map rd_7 to a new tag, since the use of the tag is different. rd_5 specifies the roadtype according to the actual physical profile of the road whereas rd_7 specifies the road how it should be used (for routing purposes). E.g. there are to ways to get from a to b. Both are secondary, but one is going through a towncentre where the other is not. In that case you want to route the latter; even if that one is a little longer. Toffehoff 10:00, 26 August 2007 (BST)
