Migrate to location=outdoor
I think bath:open_air=yes
can be migrated to location=outdoor
. What do you think about? --Valeriobozz (talk) 19:01, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- Totally agree. ITineris (talk) 15:38, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- I've created Tag:location=indoor and Tag:location=outdoor hoping to be useful but I'm unsure how to further proceed. --Valeriobozz (talk) 08:42, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- I don't think it is a replacement, because it cannot properly handle the case that there is an indoor and an outdoor pool in the same place. The deprecation template is not used correctly because the page Deprecated features doesn't list the tag nor an explanation. Discussing with just one person doesn't seem sufficient, has there been more discussion on this elsewhere? --Dieterdreist (talk) 11:08, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Dieterdreist: Thanks. I see your point. I'm not aware of any other discussion. The page Key:bath:open air was just very recent, created in 2021, 25 Feb - and the page was online like that, with the broken visible category, with really no documentation about the possible values. If you say there was the possibility to specify that you have "both" kinds of pools, it seems an interesting feature to me, indeed, but it was never documented. The value "partial" has 1 global usage [1] here (from the dear User:airon90); and the other undocumented value "partly" has 1 global usage [2] here (apparently from User:DeFra85). For these cases, it's unclear to me, whenever, if we have two swimming pools, one outdoor and one indoor, we should probably just map these "as they are", so, mapping the internal swimming pool with Tag:location=indoor and mapping the external one with Tag:location=outdoor. I can agree that this tag
bath:open_air=yes
was helping to find facilities with a specific feature; but, even in this case, maybe just a relationship between the pools and the main facility would fit this need (e.g. in Overpass: find all facilities that have at least a swimming pool in their relation that is outdoor). Example query from Telegram "@dieterdreist":

[out:json][timeout:125]; area["amenity"="public_bath"]; nwr(area)["leisure"="swimming_pool"]["location"="outdoor"]; (._;>;); out;
