information=sign

I'm looking for a way to represent signs with names of locations, usually for tourists, sometimes with a short description. I found information=sign in taginfo with almost 1000 uses which could be used for this in my opinion, but it is not described in the wiki. I’m also interested in the same topic. I’d like to map signs for the buildings on my university. I’m guessing that I should use information=board, but I’m not 100% sure.

Signs to be seen from the air

Some flat rooves have words painted on them to be seen from airplanes or spacecraft. Mention how to tag.
