Talk:OpenStreetMap Carto/Areas
Description of natural=wood and landuse=forest
The descriptons of natural=wood and landuse=forest do not match those found at the wiki pages for those two tags:
- "Natural woodland which is mostly or not at all not used for timber production"
- "Managed forest"
I would like to change these to match to description on the two wiki pages, for consistency:
- "Tree-covered area (a 'forest' or 'wood')"
- "Forest or woodland, sometimes considered to be restricted to managed woodlands or tree plantations."
I imagine the descriptions may have been different a few years ago when this page was made. --Jeisenbe (talk) 10:54, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
Reedbed
Looks like the rendering for Tag:wetland=reedbed is File:Natural wetland reed.png: https://www.osm.org/way/704723986. File:Natural wetland reed-125.png is I think the old rendering, based on history: File:Natural wetland reed.png. maro21 22:36, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for telling, updated it, see: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=File:Natural_wetland_reed-125.png&diff=2166118&oldid=2166024 --MalgiK (talk) 04:08, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
- MalgiK: Oh, now I see what was wrong: on 19 June I saw that you uploaded the same image as it was before, but because my browser's cache was still showing the old image, I saw no difference. Now I refreshed and there is the new image. Thanks for updating! :) maro21 14:17, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Verify natural=sand
We have two images for natural=sand File:Natural sand 100.png, , both used on many pages. To verify which one is currently in use. maro21 16:28, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
- Do you mean which one is used for osm-carto?
- If i compare to the map it looks same like this one: File:Natural sand 100.png
- --MalgiK (talk) 22:35, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
- So I uploaded a new version into File:Rendering-area-sand.png, with the same color as in File:Natural sand 100.png, but at 125 × 125 pixels, the size we use for the other rendering examples. maro21 18:21, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
