"Add industrial=fish_farm to the respective feature, usually a building." - fish farm is usually on water, not inside building (like on the photos in the article...) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 09:56, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

So what's then landuse=aquaculture ? And how are the buildings tagged which belong to the (water) infrastructure ? I assume the food and other equipment needs to be stored somewhere ? Next would be how to tag the place where the fish are slaughtered (how to differentiate it from a "usual" slaughterhouse) ? rtfm Rtfm (talk) 16:58, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
"So what's then landuse=aquaculture ?" - see landuse=aquaculture Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 20:33, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
landuse is one thing, the infrastructure another rtfm Rtfm (talk) 21:59, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
Sometimes that is true, but in this case the tag has only been used 8 times, once at a "fish farm" on the coast of Scotland which is also mapped (as a duplicate) with landuse=farmyard, and the others are all areas of enclosed fish raising in Lake Titicaca, Bolivia, which generally would be tagged landuse=aquaculture anywhere else. See https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/ZRP - these are aquaculture areas, not industrial facilities. --Jeisenbe (talk) 22:11, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

It is just landuse=aquaculture duplicate.

RTFM, have you seen how this tag is used? It appears that in basically all cases more standard landuse=aquaculture should be used instead. Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 20:42, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

There's a sandbox page which tries to organize this mess. Or do you think everything within "industrial" may be expressed with "building" ? rtfm Rtfm (talk) 21:59, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
I believe industrial=poultry_farm and industrial=greenhouse are also almost always mistakes. A poultry farm is not industrial. A greenhouse is usually agricultural or sometimes used as a landuse=plant_nursery, though very rarely it might be an industrial or scientific research facility. This list just shows that many undocumented tags are mistakes for more common tags. --Jeisenbe (talk) 22:13, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
"Or do you think everything within "industrial" may be expressed with "building"" no But I am unsure how it relates to this tag. And to repeat: have you checked how this tag is actually used? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 17:58, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
Do you mean how many people were as desperate to use "landuse" for a building ? buildings_aquaculture rtfm Rtfm (talk) 18:54, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
Are you aware that OSM Wiki describes how tags are actually used? Have you checked how this tag is actually used (all 8 instances of it)? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 20:14, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
I wonder why you're only asking questions instead of saying what you think would be correct (with a given reason) ? I always thought this should a documentation be for : That it's understandable to those who don't deal with it daily (or as wikipedia says "identify attributes, capabilities, characteristics, or qualities"). Is it possible that this is a kind of rhetorical technique ? rtfm Rtfm (talk) 21:44, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
He has already clearly stated the correct course of action with the title of this discussion section: "It is just landuse=aquaculture duplicate" - so we should document that it is preferred to use landuse=aquaculture instead. --Jeisenbe (talk) 22:20, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
"instead of saying what you think would be correct" - see section title "It is just landuse=aquaculture duplicate", see "more standard landuse=aquaculture should be used instead", see my edits on the page. Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:52, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
This tag has never been used on a building. It has been used 8 times, once on an area of land near the coast of Scotland, 7 times on areas in Lake Titicaca, Boliva. --Jeisenbe (talk) 22:13, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

Still no argumentation for a good structure. Do you think all "indistrial" infrastructure should then be tagged with "landuse" instead ? Your logic isn't clear to me, please explain. rtfm Rtfm (talk) 22:49, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

There are various appropriate tags for industrial features: landuse=industrial as well as man_made=works, landuse=railway, power=plant, man_made=water_works, and so on. But aquaculture is a type of agriculture, and it's already tagged with landuse=aquaculture. The tag industrial=fish_farm has only been used by 2 users in 2 places, ever, in the history of the OpenStreetMap database. I assume these 2 users were unaware of the existence of the more common tag landuse=aquaculture - perhaps they had not heard of the term "aquaculture" but only knew these were "fish farms". --Jeisenbe (talk) 04:32, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
