Tag Uses Comments
oil  Oil industry – includes the global processes of exploration, extraction, refining, and marketing petroleum products.
grinding_mill  Grinding mill – a device that breaks solid materials into smaller pieces by grinding, crushing, or cutting. The aftermath is powdered product, not liquid extract like oil mill.
factory Industrial area with factories.
wellsite Petroleum (gas or oil) well site
gas Sometimes used for a site where natural petroleum gas is extracted or produced – see also industrial=oil below.
As of 29 January 2023 note: Many uses of industrial=gas are related to infrastructure features like pipelines, substations or storage tanks. Now these uses are deprecated by Proposed features/Utility facilities.
You might also consider a more specific value for the industrial land use instead of "gas". See taginfo.
depot A place where vehicles are stored and served. Apart from landuse=garages, area and vehicles at industrial=depot usually belong to the single entity (transportation company, police or firefighter's department, etc.). See also landuse=depot.
scrap_yard  Wrecking yard – A site where decommissioned vehicles are brought for dismantling.
warehouse A site with buildings where goods are stored and shipped from but not manufactured ( Warehouse). There are some uses of industrial=storage to tag open-air storage, without further elaboration.
brickyard  Brickyard – A site where a brick making factory is located.
well_cluster Deprecated. Most of the uses were wellsite. Petroleum (gas or oil) well cluster
port  Port – An area handling commercial traffic. Alternative to landuse=port that is friendlier to data consumers by not requiring support of quickly growing list of landuse values.
