[1]: Why would a "construction company" only construct buildings? What if it only builds roads, can't I tag as office=construction_company? maro21 22:39, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

There are very few companies carrying out all types of construction work, most large companies have subsidiaries with specific offices. In the wiki, this tag was used as a redondant tag with the tags office=company + company=construction. With taginfo/overpass, I saw that many elements with office=construction_company are actually building construction companies (and the previous image in the description, the SIBM company logo, is a building construction company). So I tried to improve both wiki pages to have clear differences between office=construction_company and office=company+company=construction.
And for road constructions, you have office=company + company=civil_engineering (in taginfo I searched the word "civil" (because of civil engineering) and "public" (because of public works) and it seems that the most often used tag for roads construction companies is this). So I added it in the 'see also' section and on the Tag:office=company page but if you find a better tag in taginfo, no problem to change it. Yunan973 (talk) 15:54, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
Building construction being the most common companies does not mean office=construction_company can only be used for that. office=company is poorly defined for being "private" somehow, and duplicating the list of office=* when it can use office=civil_engineering directly. This is further confusing with the existing office=engineer if you mean "civil construction". Airports belong to civil as well. company=civil_engineering has been mass added in 2022 where there were only 5, compared to 10 office=civil_engineering at that time.
