Talk:WikiProject Esperanto
'WikiProject Esperanto' page title
Why "WikiProject" Esperanto? It thought Esperanto is a language not a country. The "WikiProject" prefix is an unfortunate page naming legacy mostly related to mapping different countries. In general it's better to not use this prefix for any new projects because it's confusing and ambiguous.
If this is about translations (but I'm not sure what it's about) I would suggest renaming this page to "Esperanto translations project" or just "Esperanto translations". Or is it just about esperanto place names? "Esperanto place name translation"

- Esperanto is not a country because it is an international language. I think that this wiki should feature a new namespace "Project" in order to add all projects available on OSM Wiki. So there would be a "Project:Translation" with a subpage "Project:Translation/Esperanto" and a "Project:Mapping" with a subpage "Project:Mapping/Lombardy". This could be helpful in order to keep in order the wiki :) Just my two cent --Airon90 21:04, 15 April 2012 (BST)
- Well that might help, or it might make wiki page titles too complicated. In any case it's a major restructuring of the whole wiki. Let's not tackle that here.
- Maybe you know the answer to my original question: what is the purpose of this page? and which of my rename suggestions fits it best?

Questions about Specific Names
The United States shows on the linked map as a literal translation of United States of America whereas all of the eo learning materials I've seen call the same country "Usono." Russia, ie, the Russian Federation, is listed as Rusio. The United States of Mexico is listed as Meksiko. So based on the pattern for most country names, shouldn't the USA use the Esperanto name for the country rather than the literal word-for-word translation of the native name? --Dygituljunky 13:20, 2 July 2012 (BST)
- Hej, I am a bit late, sorry. I agree that it should be named the way it's actually called in Esperanto, so for the case of the US "Usono".

Page language prefix
This page is written in Esperanto, which means that is should have the Eo:
namespace, resulting in this page being at Eo:VikiProjekto Esperanto.
The non-namespaced version of a page is supposed to be in English.
I am going to move the current version of this page to Eo:WikiProject Esperanto and I hope someone will translate it into English.
