This is a documentation subpage for Template:PD. It contains usage information, categories and other content or metadata that is not part of the original template. |
Usage
This is a small public domain label to go on a file description page. It's better to use the more specific templates of applicable:
- Template:PD-self - if you yourself created the file
- Template:PD-creator - if you found the public domain file which somebody else created.
- Template:PD-shape - not eligible for copyright, because not original enough
- Template:PD-USGov
- Template:PD-old
- Template:PD-RU-exempt - a Russian special case
- Template:PD-NL-admin - Dutch administrative documents
- Template:PD-B-road-sign - Belgian road signs
Notes
If possible (for your own work) please use {{CC0-self}}.
"releasing work to public domain" has some issues, as it is not well defined in some jurisdictions and/or it is not actually possible to "release to public domain". Using CC0 license avoids this problems and is well suited for media files.
