Biography

Brazil Singh is an active contributor to OpenStreetMap (OSM), he is known as Open Mapping Guru in Asia Pacific Region, where his efforts have played a crucial role in creating detailed and accurate maps that benefit people worldwide. His passion for mapping has led him to actively participate in mapping projects and disaster response initiatives.

As a recognized leader in the field, Brazil is an active member of the OpenStreetMap Foundation and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, and he volunteers with the Open Mapping Hub in the Asia-Pacific.

In 2023, Brazil and his team, "Three Dot," showcased their problem-solving skills at the Forewarn Disaster Hackathon 1.0, securing a place in the top 15 with an innovative approach to disaster preparedness. This accomplishment was one of many milestones in Brazil's journey to address critical humanitarian needs through technology and mapping. Additionally, under his leadership, the Eastern University Chapter of YouthMappers was honored with the YouthMappers Community Outreach Award in 2023, a testament to their community engagement efforts and impact. He and his chapter also co-organized the first YouthMappers Bangladesh Summit, hosted at Eastern University, where he led efforts to bring together mapping enthusiasts and disaster preparedness experts.

While actively participating in impactful mapping projects, Brazil is pursuing a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering at Eastern University, Bangladesh. He integrates his academic knowledge into practical projects, developing websites and specializing in WordPress, digital marketing, and community engagement. He has created a mapping analytics dashboard and tools for filtering points of interest, showcasing his technical expertise.

Committed to empowering the next generation, Brazil has shared his knowledge as an instructor, teaching mapping tools and technologies through the Open Mapping Hub. His contributions to mapping, education, and community engagement continue to drive him as he works toward building a more resilient and informed global community through open data.
