Things you can do

There are many missing roads that are visible in Bing. In the Fergana Valley area, especially around Andjian and Namangan. Samarkand, Olmaliq, Guliston, and Qarshi are missing some residential streets too.

Provinces

Uzbekistan is divided into twelve provinces (viloyatlar, singular viloyat, compound noun viloyati e.g. Toshkent viloyati, Samarqand viloyati, etc.), one autonomous republic (respublika, compound noun respublikasi e.g. Qaraqalpaqstan Avtonom Respublikasi [Karakalpakistan Autonomous Republic]), and one independent city (shahar. compound noun shahri , e.g. Toshkent shahri) (cf.Wikipedia).

I've added all these as place=state tags with Uzbek (e.g. Хоразм вилояти) and English names (e.g. Xorazm Viloyati) and along with the autonomous republic Qaraqalpaqstan Respublikasi and the independent city Toshkent Shari (the admin region of Tashkent). Source is GNS and cross-checked with Wikipedia. Please feel free to add new information to these nodes but I would appreciate it if they were not deleted or tags removed as I am using them for gazeteer name finding. Districts

Uzbekistan provinces are further divided into districts (tuman).

I've added all these as place=county tags. At present these are only in romanic characters, e.g. Uchquduq Tumani. The parent province is also shown with and is_in:state= tag. Source is GNS without any cross-checking with other sources, so some may be out-of-date or inaccurate. MikeCollinson 14:34, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
