Key:HE_ref
This tag replaces the old EH_ref tag On 1 April 2015 English Heritage was split into Historic England (statutory responsiblity for maintaining "the list") and English Heritage Trust (operates historic buildings as tourist attractions). Although the old English Heritage brand was handed to the new Trust, the list is maintained by Historic England and hence the change to this page. |

The HE_ref tag is used to link objects in OpenStreetMap with their associated entry in The National Heritage List for England. The list, which is maintained by Historic England, includes Listed Buildings and Scheduled Monuments, amongst other nationally significant heritage assets.
Talk-GB (July & August 2021) discussed this tag as it duplicates the tagging scheme for Key:heritage. It was agreed to prefer the use of ref:GB:nhle=* for the associated entry in The National Heritage List for England for heritage objects.
