Indicates whether foraging is allowed at a given location. Functions similarly to hunting=* and fishing=*.
What is foraging?
Generally, foraging is harvesting part or all of a plant, fungi, or (uncommonly) animal. Often done for food, but applies to other uses as well.
How to map
In keeping with good practice, tag features for which this quality is verifiable. This is easier in the case of restrictions, such as when an explicit sign is posted, but may be difficult in other situations. In absence of a clear, physical feature, users are encouraged to also use a source tag (source:foraging=*), in order to indicate where other users might be able to verify the information.
Values
Simple Situations
no
yes
permissive
More Complex Situations
For situations in which a blanket tag does not suffice, follow the guidelines as set out in Conditional restrictions. Using conditional restrictions prevents the proliferation of foraging:*=*
tags, and can easily accommodate a diversity of situations.
For instance, a park that allows foraging of flowers, but not of mushrooms, could be tagged:
foraging:conditional=yes @ flowers; no @ mushrooms
