maxdiameter:physical=* is a *:physical=* key that describes the diameter of a feature's incircle, in other words the maximum diameter something can have to still fit into the feature.

They key is currently used on highway=elevator that have a circular shape together with diameter=*. It indicates the usable space of an elevator's cabin that might be restricted by obstructions such as railings or consoles reaching into the cabin.

Unit of measure

Unless otherwise specified, the unit of measure is mm. This is a consequence of the original use of diameter=* for pipelines.

It is recommended to explicitly specify the unit in the value, such as maxdiameter:physical=1.5 m to avoid misunderstandings.
