The Open Charge Point Interface, commonly referred to as OCPI, is an open specification for automated roaming between Charge Point Operators and e-Mobility Service Providers. In the EU this is often defined as the ref:EU:EVSE=* which is based on a standard that OCPI evolved from. Outside of the EU the format of these references are less often standardized, but many Charge Point Operators continue to make use of the EVSE ID from "eMI3 standard version V1.0" when referring to charging stations (locations in OCPI), charging pools, and charging devices (EVSEs in OCPI).
