Mapzen was a Flash-based online editor for OpenStreetMap, created by CloudMade, but is no longer under development. Mapzen POI Collector was a related application also created by CloudMade, designed for adding and editing points of interest on the iPhone and Android.

History

Mapzen was announced at the 2009 State of the Map conference by CloudMade. The source code was to be released under the GPL v2.0 license. Mapzen was developed by Taras, Vladimir, and Nickb.

CloudMade discontinued development of the Mapzen editor sometime in 2010, and no longer hosts the editor at the URL http://mapzen.cloudmade.com. The last activity on the bug tracker was on August 18, 2011. On Dec. 5th, 2011 Pavel from CloudMade wrote as response for a bug report:
"For now mapzen is out of the scope of our main development, so I'm not sure if this will be fixed soon."
