This tag describes a Kneipp facility, which is used for treading water.

Description

A Kneipp facility mainly consists of an outdoor foot bath facility. Usually this is a pool with cold water and handrail. The water is around 40cm deep and in most cases taken from nearby streams. For example such pools are found aside hiking routes in Germany.

Other basin types (arm basin...) are also possible. Other equipments (like benches or bare foot paths) can sometimes be part of the facility.

Tagging

Create a node for the location or an area for the perimeter of the whole facility and tag it with amenity=kneipp_water_cure. Where appropriate also add:

name=*	Name of the Kneipp facility, as sometimes stated on a nearby sign.	Should never simply be "Kneippanlage" but its proper name if has one, e.g., "Kneippanlage Lauterbach", "Wassertretbecken Mehring"...
fee=yes/no	If you have to pay a fee to access to the facility (rare).	Some rare Kneipp basins are operated through a swimmingpool, for which you have to pay an entrance fee.
opening_hours=*	Opening months if available.	May-Oct: 00:00-24:00; Nov-Apr: Off

area=yes is implied through the use of amenity=* and don't need to be added.

Optionally add the position of the single basins using nodes or areas within the area for the whole site and tag them:

• kneipp_water_cure=foot - for a foot basin
• kneipp_water_cure=arm - for an arm basin
• ...

As a amenity=kneipp_water_cure has often been used to tag the perimeter of the foot basin, which of course is smaller than the whole site. This is still allowed but in the future it is recommended to use tag the whole site.

Other useful tags

• barrier=handrail - Many Kneipp basins have handrails inside them, so you may want to draw a new way for them using barrier=handrail, if you are really sophisticated.
• width=* on waterway=stream - Width of a stream (useful if the facility is in a natural stream)
• amenity=bench - for benches.
• leisure=barefoot - for bare foot paths.

Kneipp facility with just one foot basin

Preferred way: tag a closed way to mark the outline of the site of the Kneipp facility:

Alternatively the whole facility with just one node:

The old method remains allowed (but is not recommended anymore). The outline of the foot basin was tagged like that:

Kneipp facility in a natural stream

It is not necessary to draw the equivalent of the basin within the stream. It is enough to draw the outline of the whole site (for example including benches) and tag it like that:

The exact place in the stream can be tagged as a node:

kneipp_water_cure=foot

If you want to drawn the exact place in the stream as an area, then also tag the width of the stream:

(alternatively using an area tagged as "waterway=riverbank")

Create a node and tag it as:

I kept "kneipp_water_cure:foot=no" to make clear that there is only an arm basin but it would be even possible to do without.

Tag the outline of the facility as:

If a more precise tagging is wished, add an area for the foot basin within the facility:

For the arm basin a node on the area of the foot basin can be tagged like:

With the old method the outline of the foot basin is tagged like that:

Here we only know; that there is a Kneipp facility with a foot basin. There are no information over other basins.
